Get tickets!Description
Join us for an exploration beginning with a visit to the site of the former St. John’s Guild Children’s Hospital, originally part of a “fresh air initiative” to use sea air as a treatment.
St. John’s Guild extended this to the poor children of the city. The hospital was abandoned and left to be washed away by the sea for decades. Directly adjacent to this site is Cedar Grove Beach Club; Its 100 year residents were evicted by the NYC Park’s Department in 2010. Come preparred to to explore.
Directions:
From the ferry, take the S78 to New Dorp Lane and transfer to the S86/76 or walk down to Cedar Grove Avenue.
